What the ticket usually includes
Entrance to the archaeological zone and on-site museums (confirm museum hours the day you visit). Parking is typically extra.
Visitor rules to expect
Smoking, pets, and bringing food into the zone are commonly restricted. Follow posted signs and staff directions.
Climbing is separate from admission
Buying a ticket does not mean you can climb the Pyramid of the Sun. Read climbing rules.
Buying tickets
Tickets are sold according to current INAH practice. If online purchase is available for your dates, still verify entry rules. Bring ID for discounted categories.
Museums and the ticket
General admission typically includes site museums, but museum hours can differ. Do not leave mural rooms for the final minutes before close.
Holidays and special closures
Holidays change crowd levels and occasionally operations. Check INAH the morning you go when unsure.
Budgeting extras
Parking, snacks outside restricted areas, souvenirs, and transport sit on top of the ticket. Transport mode is the big swing factor in total cost.
Accessibility note
Terrain is uneven. Ask staff about the most manageable entrances and routes if mobility is limited.
FAQ
- Can you climb the Pyramid of the Sun?
- No. Public ascent has been closed since 2020 for conservation and safety. Enjoy the plazas, Avenue of the Dead, temples, and museums instead.
- Should I re-check details before visiting?
- Yes. Hours, ticket prices, and climbing access can change. Use the official INAH Teotihuacan page for the latest information.
